March 5, 2024, Presidential Primary Election Update:County Voter Information Guide and Vote-by-Mail Ballots

County Voter Information Guides (CVIG) for the March 5, 2024, Presidential Primary Election have been mailed to Yolo County voters. The CVIG includes Ballot Drop Box, Vote Center, and Mobile Vote Center locations and days/hours of operation, local candidate statements and measures and other important information. Voters that have 'opted out' of receiving a paper version of the CVIG may view it on the Yolo County Elections website: https://sites.omniballot.us/06113/app/home.

Today, (Monday, February 5, 2024), the Yolo County Elections Office started mailing Vote-by-Mail ballots for the March 5, 2024, Presidential Primary Election. All active registered voters in Yolo County can expect their ballot to arrive in their mailbox by Monday, February 12, 2024. If your ballot has not arrived by Tuesday, February 13, 2024, please contact the Yolo County Elections Office by emailing  [email protected] or by phone at (800) 649-9943.

“We are pleased to announce that all needed election materials are on schedule to be received by Yolo County voters within the first two week of February,” says Jesse Salinas, Yolo County Assessor/Clerk-Recorder/Registrar of Voters.  “We are diligently working through our election processes and are on track for a very successful election,” says Salinas.

Key Information Regarding Vote-by-Mail Ballots

  • You do not need to request an absentee/Vote-by-Mail ballot – all active registered voters will be mailed a ballot beginning February 5, 2024.
  • Vote-by-Mail ballots must be filled out and returned in the provided return identification envelope. Voters can return their voted ballots in their signed return identification envelopes:
    • Via the mail (no return postage needed); it must be postmarked by March 5, 2024, and received by our office no later than March 12, 2024;
    • By dropping it off at one of our 15 Ballot Drop Boxes from February 5, 2024, until 8:00m. on March 5, 2024 (Locations are listed and mapped here: https://www.yoloelections.org/voting/polling_place);
    • By dropping it off at one of our 13 Vote Centers (VCs) – three of our VCs are open beginning Saturday, February 24, 2024, and the remaining ten (10) are open beginning March 2, 2024. Voted ballots in their signed return identification envelopes must be returned by 8:00 p.m. on March 5, 2024 (Locations are listed and here: https://www.yoloelections.org/voting/polling_place­).
  • The Yolo County Elections Office encourages you to return your vote-by-mail ballot before Election Day.

Key Information Regarding Vote Centers

  • Yolo County has replaced the traditional neighborhood polling places with 13 Vote Centers (VCs) placed strategically throughout the county for the March 5, 2024, Presidential Primary Election. Yolo County voters can visit any VC in the county to drop off or cast a ballot in person.
  • Three Vote Centers are open for eleven (11) days beginning Saturday, February 24, 2024, through Monday, March 4, 2024, from 10:00m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Election Day, Tuesday, March 5, 2024, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Ten (10) additional Vote Centers are open for four days beginning Saturday, March 2, 2024, through Monday, March 4, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Election Day, Tuesday, March 5, 2024, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • All 13 Vote Centers are open on Election Day, Tuesday, March 5, 2024, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Vote Centers offer many services. Voters may:
    • Drop off voted and signed vote-by-mail ballots
    • Pick up a replacement vote-by-mail ballots for yourself or a return identification envelope
    • Vote a regular ballot
    • Receive language assistance or copies of translated ballots for reference
    • Use accessible ballot marking devices
    • Complete same-day voter registration and conditional or provisional voting
  • Yolo County operates a Mobile Vote Center (MVC) which provides all of the services you will find at the other Vote Centers. The MVC will be visiting seven townships and unincorporated communities beginning Tuesday, February 27, 2024, and will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at each location.

Key Election Dates

Monday, February 5

Mailing of ballots to all registered voters begins.

Voted ballots may be returned in any of the Ballot Drop Boxes located throughout the county or anywhere in California.

Tuesday, February 20

Close of voter registration for the March 5, 2024, Presidential Primary Election. Voter registration forms must be postmarked by this date or delivered to the Elections Office by 5:00 p.m. Online voter registration must be completed before midnight on this date at http://www.registertovote.ca.gov/

Wednesday, February 21

Conditional Voter Registration (CVR) begins (also known as: Same Day Registration) at the Yolo County Elections Office and Vote Centers (once opened).  

Saturday, February 24

Three Vote Centers throughout the county open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Tuesday, February 27

Last day to request a Vote-by-Mail (VBM) ballot be mailed to you. After this date, VBM ballots are available only at the Yolo County Elections Office or at any Vote Center.

Saturday, March 2

10 additional Vote Centers open throughout the County, for a total of 13 Vote Centers, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Tuesday, March 5

Election Day, all Vote Centers throughout the County open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
