March 5, 2024, Presidential Primary Election Update – Nomination Periods & Declaration of Intention

The period for an individual to declare candidacy and begin circulating nomination papers are as follows:

  • County Central Committee & Council – September 29, 2023 – December 8, 2023
  • All other candidates: November 13, 2023 – December 8, 2023

If the number of signatures in-lieu of filing fee meets the required number of signatures for nomination, the candidate does not need to circulate nomination papers during the nomination period. Filing fees, if required, must be paid at the time the nomination papers are obtained. This fee is non-refundable.

Candidates have until 5:00 p.m. on December 8, 2023, to collect their nomination signatures and submit their declaration of candidacy and candidate statement (if applicable) with the County Elections Office located at 625 Court Street, Room B-05, Woodland, CA 95695. 

Additionally, the time frame for the mandatory Declaration of Intention for judicial candidates is October 30, 2023, to November 8, 2023. The filing fee must be paid at this time and is non-refundable. Signatures In-Lieu of filing fee will not be accepted after the Declaration of Intention is filed. If an incumbent for Judge of the Superior Court does not file a Declaration of Intention by the November 8 deadline, the Declaration of Intention period is extended until November 13.
