Election Canvass Process Update

The deadline to certify the March 3, 2020 Presidential Primary Election has been extended by 21 days to April 23, 2020 in response to the statewide “Stay at Home” declaration by Governor Newsom issued on March 19, 2020, and Executive Order N-34-20 issued on March 20, 2020. This extension is being provided due to the staffing issues many election offices across the state are experiencing, including Yolo County.

The Yolo County Elections office began the canvas process of the 2020 Presidential Primary Election on March 5, 2020, and has been working daily to complete the certification of the election. The canvass processes take place at the Yolo County Elections Office located at 625 Court Street, Suite B-05 in Woodland. Members of the public that would like to observe the canvass process are still able to do so and will be admitted as long as social distancing protocols are followed.

Please be advised that verification statements have been mailed to Yolo County Vote by Mail voters whose Vote by Mail ballot was challenged by the Elections Office. Challenges to Vote by Mail ballots occur when the envelope is missing a signature or the signature does not match the signature on file from when the voter registered to vote. The Unsigned Ballot Statement and Signature Verification Statement forms are available below and are required to be returned to the Elections Office by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 6, 2020.
