Sample Ballot for June 5, 2018 Election

MEMBER, CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF DAVIS

MARY JO BRYAN

MARY JO BRYAN Age: 75

Occupation: Community Volunteer/Retired

I came to California as a young child. I entered the Sisters of Social Service for eight years working in East LA and East Oakland. In 1969 I completed my degree at UC Riverside and married Joel Bryan, a post-polio quadriplegic, who was recruited to UC Davis to found the “Disabled Student Program” in 1973.

My experience:

  • Served on the boards of the League of Women of Voters, Suicide Prevention, Yolo Interfaith Immigration Network, Yolo Community Foundation, and Soroptimist International
  • Served on the City of Davis Affordable Housing Task Force.
  • Led the “Housing as a Social Issue” lobbying group, Citizens for Healthy Aging
  • Deputy to Yolo County Supervisor Helen Thomson
  • Program Coordinator of Yolo County’s Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs.

My campaign is grounded in the legacy of citizen involvement and commitment to community. Working together we CAN achieve our community’s goals.

Housing is a top priority in my campaign. My objective is to bring together ALL community members to develop a plan for both present and future housing needs. We need to find a way to alter the diversity of the Davis housing market, both economically and culturally.

I pledge vigilance and transparency to social issues that confront our city including racial, gender, economic disparity, cultural discrimination, and disabilities with personal safety and accessibility for ALL.
