Yolo County Voter Assistance Center (VAC) and Ballot Drop Box (BDB) Locations and Hours for the November 3, 2020 General Election Announced

September 4, 2020

The Yolo County Elections Office, in accordance with guidance provided by the California Secretary of State’s Office and the recently signed Senate Bill (SB 423), was directed to identify and make public the proposed Voter Assistance Centers (VACs) and Ballot Drop Box (BDB) locations to be used in the upcoming November 3, 2020 General Election.

The Yolo County Elections Office released 12 proposed Voter Assistance Centers (VACs) and Ballot Drop Box (BDB) locations on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 for public comment for a minimum period of 10 days.  Public comment was received regarding the need for a Voter Assistance Center in south Davis. “We immediately started a conversation with the Davis Joint School District to see if this request could be fulfilled, and we received a very positive response,” says Jesse Salinas, Yolo County Assessor/Clerk-Recorder/Registrar of Voters. “Our schools are an essential part of the fabric of the Davis community, and we are pleased to be able to host two voting stations at our facilities, including a south Davis location that can provide better access for more neighborhoods,” stated John A. Bowes, Superintendent of Davis Joint Unified. Therefore, we are adjusting one Davis Voter Assistance Center from Harper Junior High School (4000 E. Covell Boulevard) to Montgomery Elementary School (1441 Danbury Street). No further adjustments were made based on public comment.

Several factors were considered in early voting availability in Yolo County, including the hours of the Voter Assistance Centers for Saturday, October 31, 2020 through Monday, November 2, 2020. The Yolo County Elections Office determined 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. to be the most convenient regular hours for Yolo County voters. Public opinion was also considered via the survey released on August 18, 2020 that allowed the public to assist in selecting convenient VAC hours.

Voter Assistance Centers (VACs) will be open beginning Saturday, October 31, 2020, through Monday, November 2, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. VACs will be open Tuesday, November 3, 2020 (Election Day) from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Ballot Drop Boxes will be available beginning Monday, October 5, 2020, through Tuesday, November 3, 2020 (Election Day). Davis, Esparto, West Sacramento and Woodland will each have an exterior Ballot Drop Box (BDB) that will be available 24/7 and each community will have at least one interior Ballot Drop Box (excluding Esparto). Please note interior Ballot Drop Box hours of operation vary and are dependent on the locations’ business hours.
