USPS Vote-by-Mail Postcard

September 11, 2020

Below is a scanned image of a postcard that was apparently mailed out, by USPS, nationwideThere is information on this postcard that is not relevant to the voters in California and causing confusion. Yolo County Elections would like to remind residents that in California, you do not need to request an absentee ballot/Vote-by-Mail – all active registered voters will be mailed a ballot beginning October 5, 2020.

In Yolo County, those ballots can be filled out and returned in the provided envelope, no postage needed, via the mail, dropped off at a Ballot Drop Box (BDB), returned to one of our 12 Voter Assistance Centers (VACs) or voters can walk in to one of the Voter Assistance Centers (VACs) and still choose to vote in person. For voters that return their ballot by mail, as long as it is post-marked by November 3, 2020 our office has 17 days after November 3, 2020 to receive it and count the vote.

Key Yolo County Information/Dates:

  • Residents can still register to vote online at https://registertovote.ca.gov/ to receive their ballot in the mail the first full week of October.
  • Ballot Drop Boxes will be open beginning, Monday, October 5, 2020 and will close at 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, 2020.
  • 12 Voter Assistance Centers will be open Saturday, October 31, 2020 through Monday, November 2, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, 2020 from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
