September 14, 2021, California Gubernatorial Recall Election

The Lieutenant Governor has issued a Proclamation for a special statewide election on September 14, 2021. For more information on the upcoming election, please visit the Secretary of State's website at: https://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/upcoming-elections/2021-ca-gov-recall.

All active registered voters will receive their ballot in the mail. Voters will have the choice to mail it back, drop it in an official Ballot Drop Box or vote in person at a Voter Assistance Center. In-person voting locations and ballot drop box locations will be announced once they are confirmed.

The Signatures In Lieu of Filing Fees period for the California Gubernatorial Recall Election began Thursday, July 1, 2021 and ends Tuesday, July 6, 2021. The candidate filing period begins Friday, July 9, 2021 and ends Friday, July 16, 2021. For more information on what candidacy paperwork must be turned in, please review the checklist at https://elections.cdn.sos.ca.gov/statewide-elections/2021-recall/candidate-checklist.pdf. All candidacy paperwork must be turned in to the appropriate state or local elections official by 5:00 pm on July 16, 2021. Any candidate who fails to timely submit the candidate documents with original signatures by the close of the nomination period will not be included on the ballot.

Residents of Yolo County wishing to declare their candidacy are required to make an appointment with the Yolo County Elections Office to obtain and turn in the applicable paperwork. Interested parties can schedule an appointment online using our scheduling system: https://YoloCountyACE.as.me/elections2021 or by calling the Yolo County Elections Office at (530) 666‑8133. Once available, candidate nomination paperwork may be downloaded from the Candidate Services section on our website at www.yoloelections.org/candidate-services. You can complete and print the forms to bring to your initial appointment. Our office will be closed on July 3 through July 5 and will resume business hours on July 6, 2021.
