Voter Guide for November 8, 2016
Presidential General Election
MEMBER OF THE STATE ASSEMBLY, 4th District
STATEMENT OF CANDIDATE FOR
MEMBER OF THE STATE ASSEMBLY
CHARLIE SCHAUPP Age: 61
Occupation: Retired Marine Corps Officer/Farm Owner
First, I want to thank all the voters for the overwhelming
support in the Primary. In the costliest race in the state,
with special interest and Super PACs expenditures
totaling more than $2 million, none of which supported
my campaign, I was still selected by the voters to move
on to the fall election. This gives me great confidence in
the judgment and wisdom of the voters and realize the
real need for change in Sacramento.
Background: My family has farmed in Yolo County since
the 1880's and currently farm 3,600 acres. I'm a retired
Marine Corps Lieutenant Colonel proudly serving for 28
years which included combat operations in the Battle of
Fallujah and Operation Desert Storm. I graduated from
Chico State University majoring in agriculture (soil/ water
science) and have served as a public school trustee,
VFW Post Commander, and currently as chairman of the
Esparto Community Services District.
I pledge to work to stop special interests from controlling
the agenda in Sacramento. This will be no easy task.
It will take dedication and perseverance. I'll work
tirelessly to make our state government more efficient
to reduce regulations on agriculture, business and local
government. Also, we must find new ways to reinvest in
public safety, education, water storage, and rebuild our
crumbling infrastructure. When you consider that our
state currently has a $400 billion unfunded retirement
and bond liability bringing back fiscal responsibility to
Sacramento is paramount.
Again, thank you for your continued trust and confidence.
