Voter Guide for November 8, 2016
Presidential General Election
STATE SENATOR, 3rd District
STATEMENT OF CANDIDATE FOR
MEMBER OF THE STATE SENATE
Occupation: Social Worker
Californians need strong leaders who will stand up for
everyday people, not politicians who take a walk in tough
Throughout my 40 years in public service—as a lifelong
Democrat, social worker, school volunteer, County
Supervisor, and State Assemblywoman who raised two
daughters and cared for an aging parent—I've earned
the reputation for always standing up for what's right, not
Special interest groups, including Big Oil, are spending
millions to defeat us. Why? Because they know I can't
be bought or inl uenced by corporate money.
I have always put Main Street ahead of Wall Street, and
I always will.
I'll work to eliminate corporate tax loopholes that hurt
small businesses, require oil companies that earn profits
here to contribute to environmental protection, and lead
the fight against the Delta Tunnels to stop shipping
Northern California water south.
I will fight to protect retirements by increasing penalties
on financial institutions that engage in fraud against
seniors, invest in childcare and universal preschool, and
address student debt and veterans services.
Because they know I will work to increase healthcare
for all, I am proud to have a 100% rating from Planned
Parenthood and the support of California's nurses.
Principled leaders like Congressman John Garamendi,
Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones, State Controller
Betty Yee, EMILY's LIST, the California League of
Conservation Voters, and California Federation of
Teachers are on my team. Join us at YamadaForSenate.
I ask for your vote today—because I want to fight for you.
